Sail Camp 2020
Sail Camp is cancelled for this season; however, we are working to get our youth on the water. Keep checking here for details soon ...

This learn to sail program is for kids aged 8-16 and is held at the LYSA clubhouse on Lake Yosemite. Multiple sessions will be offered for the upcoming 2020 season.

Campers will learn to sail on stable Capri 13 and FJ sailboats. Lasers will also be available for advanced sailors. Campers do not need prior sailing experience, but must know how to swim. The camp is taught by experienced youth sailing instructors.
Currently there are no new junior counselor positions available. However, youth over the age of thirteen with leadership skills and advanced sailing experience are encouraged to ask about our volunteer junior counselor positions. JCs act as skippers, are responsible for hands-on instruction, and are expected to help the head counselor and adult instructors. JCs also help with boat maintenance and serve dinner at LYSA's annual open house fundraiser. After turning nineteen, JCs have the opportunity to apply for paid counselor positions.

Camps will be broken into four groups:
Mini: Campers 8 to 10 years of age
Mini class will run from 9 am to 1 pm daily
Basic: Campers 10 to 16 years of age. Basic class will run from 9 am to 4 pm daily.
Advanced: Advanced class runs from 9 am to 4 pm daily. Admission to advanced sailing classes will be determined by the head counselor and adult instructors and will be based on observed sailing skills as well as the ability to take direction Determination about placement in advanced class will be made at the end of the first day of camp.
NROTC: Campers must be part of high school NROTC program
